Hydrochlorothiazide

Indication

Apo-Hydro is used for treating high blood pressure. It is also used to treat fluid buildup in the body caused by certain conditions (eg, heart failure, liver cirrhosis, kidney problems) or medicines (eg, corticosteroids, estrogen). It may be used alone or with other medicines. Apo-Hydro is a thiazide diuretic. It helps the kidneys to remove fluid from the body.

Instruction

Use Apo-Hydro as directed by your doctor.

• Take Apo-Hydro by mouth with or without food.
• Apo-Hydro may increase the amount of urine or cause you to urinate more often when you first start taking it. To keep this from disturbing your sleep, try to take your dose before 6 pm.
• If you miss a dose of Apo-Hydro, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Drug interaction

Before taking Apo-Hydro tell your doctor if you are using lithium, steroids (prendisone), digoxin (Lanoxin), cholestyramine ( Questran, Prevalite) or colestipol (Colestid), other blood pressure medications, insulin or diabetes medicine taken by mouth, NSAIDs such as apirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, indometacin, naproxen, piroxicam, nabumetone, etodolac and others.
