Indapamide

Indication

Apo-Indapamide is used for treating high blood pressure, swelling, or congestive heart failure due to excess fluid in the body. Apo-Indapamide is a diuretic. It works by causing the kidneys to eliminate large amounts of water and salts.

Instruction

Use Apo-Indapamide as directed by your doctor.

• Take Apo-Indapamide by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
• Apo-Indapamide may increase the amount of urine or cause you to urinate more often when you first start taking it. To keep this from disturbing your sleep, try to take your dose before 6 pm.
• If you miss a dose of Apo-Indapamide and you are taking 1 dose daily, take the missed dose if you remember the same day. Skip the missed dose if you do not remember until the next day. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Drug interaction

Apo-Indapamide may cause hypopotasseimia and hypomagnesemia. Fatal arrhythmias may develop in patients on digoxin (Lanoxin) due to toxicity. Cardiac arrhythmias are also caused by use of amiodarone (Cordarone) and indapamide. Elimination of lithium by kidneys decreases in patients treated by diuretics and hereby leads to increase of lithium toxicity.
