Amoxicillin 500mg, clavulanic acid 125mg

Indication

Clavomax is used for treating infections caused by certain bacteria. Clavomax is a penicillin antibiotic. It works by killing sensitive bacteria.

Instruction

Use Clavomax as directed by your doctor.

• Take Clavomax by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
• To clear up your infection completely, take Clavomax for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
• If you miss a dose of Clavomax, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Drug interaction

Treatment with Clavomax and other antibiotics can change the normal bacteria flora of the colon and permit overgrowth of C. difficile, bacteria which cause pseudomembranous colitis. Probenecid which is used to treat gout may slow excretion of Clavomax by kidneys and result in increase of its toxicity.
