Indication
Hovid Diabetmin is used to treat type 2 (noninsulin-dependent) diabetes. Hovid Diabetmin decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Hovid Diabetmin (Generic Glucomin) increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
Instruction
Take exactly as prescribed by your Health Provider. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your Health provider first.
If you miss a dose of Hovid Diabetmin, take as soon as possible. Do not double doses.
Drug interaction
Cimetidine (Tagamet) increases blood levels of Hovid Diabetmin affecting its metabolism. Hovid Diabetmin is not compatible with alcohol. Concomitant administration with indirect anticoagulants and Cimetidine should be done with cautiousness. Hovid Diabetmin enhances metabolism of Furosemide. Derivatives of sulfonylurea, insulin, acarbose, inhibitors of MAO, oxytetracycline, cyclophosphamide and salicylates increase the effects of Hovid Diabetmin. Decrease of hypoglycemic effect of Hovid Diabetmin is caused by co-administration with thyroid medicines, birth control pills and other hormones, Epinephrine, Glucagon, thiazide diuretics, nicotinic acid derivates.
