Glyburide and metformin
Indication
Hovid Diamide contains a combination of glyburide and metformin (400/2.5 mg or 500/5 mg). Glibenclamide and metformin are both oral diabetes medicines that help control blood sugar levels.
Hovid Diamide is used to treat type 2 diabetes. This medicine is not for treating type 1diabetes.
Hovid Diamide may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Drug interaction
Cimetidine (Tagamet) increases blood levels of Hovid Diamide affecting its metabolism. Hovid Diamide is not compatible with alcohol. Concomitant administration with indirect anticoagulants and Cimetidine should be done with cautiousness. Hovid Diamide enhances metabolism of Furosemide. Derivatives of sulfonylurea, insulin, acarbose, inhibitors of MAO, ACE inhibitors (such as captopril), oxytetracycline, cyclophosphamide and salicylates increase the effects of Hovid Diamide. Decrease of hypoglycemic effect of Hovid Diamide is caused by co-administration with thyroid medicines, birth control pills and other hormones, Epinephrine, Glucagon, thiazide diuretics, nicotinic acid derivates. Azole antifungals (fluconazole) also interact with Hovid Diamide.
