Glimepiride
Indication
Hovid Glimaryl is used for treating type 2 diabetes in patients who cannot control blood sugar levels by diet and exercise alone. It is used along with diet and exercise. It may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines. Amaryl is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic medicine. It works by causing the pancreas to release insulin, which helps to lower blood sugar.

Drug interaction
Diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrodiuril, Ezide, Hydro-Par, Microzide, furosemide (Lasix)), corticosteroids such as prednisone and methylprednisolone (Medrol), phenytoin (Dilantin), niacin, and sympathomimetics such as pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) are able to increase blood sugar and diminish effect of Hovid Glimaryl. Propranolol (Inderal) and atenolol (Tenormin) belong to beta-blockers and also are able to affect blood levels and decrease activity of Hovid Glimaryl.
