Isosorbide 5-mononitrate
Indication
Imdex (isosorbide mononitrate) is in a group of drugs called nitrates. It dilates (widens) blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through them and easier for the heart to pump.
Instruction
Take Imdex exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Take this medication with at least 4 ounces of water or other liquid. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole.
If possible, try to rest or stay seated when you use this medication. Imdex can cause dizziness or fainting. Use Imdex regularly to prevent an angina attack.
Do not stop taking Imdex suddenly. Stopping suddenly could cause a severe angina attack.
Drug interaction
Concomitant use with Sildenafil (Viagra), vardenafil (Levitra), or tadalafil (Cialis) may dangerously decrease the blood pressure and is contradicted. Do not combine Imdex with calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem (Dilacor, Tiazac, Cardizem) and verapamil (Isoptin, Isoptin SR, Calan, Verelan, Verelan PM, Covera-HS)
