Nebivolol HCl
Indication
Treatment of essential HTN & stable mild & moderate chronic heart failure in addition to standard therapies in the elderly ≥70 yr.
Instruction
Ca antagonists of verapamil or diltiazem type can cause negative effect of contractility & AV conduction. Class I antiarrhythmic drugs & amiodarone may potentiate atrial conduction time & -ve inotropic effect. Increased risk of rebound HTN after sudden w/drawal of chronic clonidine treatment. Digitalis glycosides may increase AV conduction time. Anaesth may attenuate reflex tachycardia & increased risk of hypotension. Increased BP-lowering effect w/ TCA, barbiturates & phenothiazines.
Drug interaction
Hypersensitivity. Liver insufficiency or impairment. Acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock or episodes of heart failure decompensation. Sick sinus syndrome including SA block; 2nd- & 3rd-degree heart block (w/o a pacemaker); history of bronchospasm & bronchial asthma; untreated pheochromocytoma; metabolic acidosis; bradycardia (heart rate <60 bpm); hypotension (systolic BP <90 mmHg); severe peripheral circulatory disturbances.
