Should be taken with food.
Drug interaction
Reduced renal clearance w/ lithium. Non-arrhythmics inducing wave burst arrhythmia w/ fenoxedil, lidoflazine, prenylamine & vincamine. Intratubular precipitation of urates related to the uricosuric effect of tienilic acid. Potentiated action of other antihypertensives. Decreased arterial responsiveness to norephinephrine. Inhibition of vasodilator prostaglandins by NSAIDs. Triggered lactic acidosis due to metformin. Increased risk of acute renal failure w/ iodinated contrast media. Antiarmythmics inducing wave burst arrhythmia w/ sotalol, amlodarone, bepridil & quinidine-type anti-arrhythmic drugs (class IA). Increased risk of hypokalemia w/ amphotericin B (IV route), glucocorticoids & mineralocorticoids (systemic route), tetracosactide, stimulant laxatives. Occurrence of hypo- or hyperkalemia w/ amiloride, canrenone, spironolactone, triamterene. Potentiated digitalis glycosides toxic effects.
