Varenicline tartrate
Indication
For moking cessation
Instruction
Day 1-3: 0.5 mg once daily. Day 4-7: 0.5 mg bd. Day 8-end of treatment: 1 mg bd. Duration: 12 week. If successfully stopped at 12 week, an additional course of 12 week treatment may be considered. Champix dosing should usually start 1-2 wk before the quit date. Alternatively, the patient can begin varenicline dosing & quit smoking between treatment days 8 & 35.
Drug interaction
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole w/ water.
