Losartan K
Indication
Treatment of HTN. Reduce risk of stroke in patients with HTN & left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). Treatment of diabetic nephropathy with elevated serum creatinine & proteinuria in patients with type 2 diabetes & history of HTN.
Instruction
May be taken with or without food: Take with water.
Drug interaction
Losartan: Reduced active metabolite levels by rifampicin & fluconazole. Increased serum potassium by K-sparing diuretics (eg, spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), K supplements or K containing salt-substitutes. Reduced lithium excretion. Reduced effects of diuretics & other antihypertensives. Further renal function deterioration by AIIA & ACE inhibitors. Amlodipine: Increased plasma by strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
