Losartan K 50 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg
Indication
HTN. Reduce risk of stroke in patients with HTN and left ventricular hypertrophy.
Instruction
May be taken with or without food.
Drug interaction
Losartan: Decreased conc with rifampicin. Increased serum K with K-sparing diuretics, K-containing supplements or salt substitutes. Reduced lithium excretion. Attenuated antihypertensive effect by NSAIDs eg, selective COX-2 inhibitors. Hydrochlorothiazide: Potentiated orthostatic hypotension with alcohol, barbiturates or narcotics. Adjust dose of oral antidiabetic drugs and insulin. Additive or potentiated effect with other antihypertensive drugs. Impaired absorption with cholestyramine and colestipol resins. Intensified electrolyte depletion with corticosteroids, ACTH or glycyrrhizin. Decreased response to pressor amines. Increased responsiveness to nondepolarizing skeletal muscle relaxants. Reduced renal clearance of lithium. Reduced diuretic, natriuretic and antihypertensive effects with NSAIDs and selective COX-2 inhibitors.
