Indication
Invasive candidiasis in childn & adults. Oesophageal candidiasis in adults, adolescents ≥16 yr & elderly patients for whom IV therapy is appropriate. Prophylaxis of Candida infection in childn & adult patients undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation or patients who are expected to have neutropenia (absolute neutrophil count <500 cells/microliter) for ≥10 days.
Instruction
Invasive candidiasis Adult, adolescent, childn (including neonate) & elderly >40 kg 100 mg daily, may be increased to 200 mg daily, ≤40 kg 2 mg/kg daily, may be increased to 4 mg/kg daily. Duration: Min of 14 days & continued for at least 1 wk after 2 sequential -ve blood cultures have been obtained & after resolution of clinical signs & symptoms of infection. Prophylaxis of Candida infection Adult, adolescent, childn (including neonate) & elderly >40 kg 50 mg daily, ≤40 kg 1 mg/kg daily. Duration: At least 1 wk after neutrophil recovery. Experience in patients <2 yr is limited. Oesophageal candidiasis Adult, adolescent ≥16 yr & elderly >40 kg 150 mg daily, ≤40 kg 3 mg/kg daily. Duration: At least 1 wk.
Drug interaction
Increased AUC of sirolimus. Increased AUC & Cmax of nifedipine & itraconazole.
