Cloxacillin Na
Indication
Skin & soft tissue infections caused by pneumococci; upper & lower resp tract infection.
Instruction
Intramuscular:
The contents of each vial should be dissolved in 1.5 mL of water for inj.
Intravenous:
500 mg to be dissolved in 10-20 mL of water for inj, added to suitable IV fluids if given for infusion.
Drug interaction
Substantial mutual inactivation w/ aminoglycosides. Higher serum peak conc & prolonged serum conc w/ probenecid. Increased risk of skin rash w/ allopurinol. Prolonged &/or worsened diarrhea w/ antiperistaltic antidiarrheals. Interfered bactericidal effects by chloramphenicol, erythromycin, sulfonamides, tetracyclines. Decreased effectiveness of OCs.
