Fluoxetine HCl
Indication
Treatment of symptoms of depressive illness, with or without associated anxiety symptoms. Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Instruction
May be taken with or without food.
Drug interaction
Risk of serotonin syndrome w/ MAOI-B (eg, selegiline), serotonergic drugs, lithium or tryptophan. Changed blood levels w/ phenytoin. Altered anticoagulant effects. Increased adverse effects w/ St. John's wort. Prolonged seizures w/ ECT. Alcohol. Drugs w/ narrow therapeutic index eg, flecainide, encainide, carbamazepine, TCAs.
