Losartan K 50 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg
Indication
HTN. Reduce risk of stroke in patient w/ HTN & left ventricular hypertrophy.
Instruction
May be taken with or without food.
Drug interaction
Losartan: Decreased conc w/ rifampicin. Increase conc w/ fluconazole. Increased serum K w/ K-sparing diuretics, K supplements or salt substitutes containing K. Antihypertensive effect may be blunted by indomethacin. Hydrochlorothiazide: Potentiation of orthostatic hypotension may occur w/ alcohol, barbiturates or narcotics. Additive effect or potentiation w/ other antihypertensive drugs. Reduced absorption from the GIT w/ cholestyramine & colestipol. Intensified electrolyte depletion particularly hypokalemia w/ corticosteroids, ACTH. Reduced renal clearance of lithium; increase risk of lithium toxicity. NSAIDs including selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor may reduce the diuretic, natriuretic & antihypertensive effects.
