Phentermine as an ion-exchange resin complex
Indication
Short-term adjunct in the management of obesity in a medically monitored comprehensive regimen of wt reduction based on exercise, diet & behaviour modification in obese patients w/ BMI ≥30 kg/m2 & in overwt patients (BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2) w/ comorbidity.
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Take at breakfast. Avoid taking near bedtime. Swallow whole do not chew/crush.
Drug interaction
Sympathomimetics & anoretics. Antagonised adrenergic neurone blockers. Potentiated effects by MAOIs (discontinue at least 14 days prior). Increased CNS stimulation w/ thyroid hormones. Potentiated CNS side effects w/ alcohol.
