Gliclazide
Indication
NIDDM (type 2) in adults when dietary measures, physical exercise & wt loss alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Take w/ breakfast. Swallow whole do not chew/crush.
Drug interaction
Increased hypoglycaemic effect w/ miconazole, phenylbutazone, alcohol, other antidiabetic agents, β-blockers, fluconazole, ACE inhibitors, H2-receptor antagonists, MAOIs, sulfonamides, clarithromycin, NSAIDs. Increased blood glucose levels w/ danazol, chlorpromazine, glucocorticoids & IV ritodrine, salbutamol, terbutaline. Potentiated anticoagulation w/ warfarin. Decreased exposure by St. John's wort prep. Dysglycaemia w/ fluoroquinolones.
