Cisatracurium besilate
Indication
Adjunct to general anaesth or sedation in ICU, to relax skeletal muscles & to facilitate tracheal intubation & mechanical ventilation.
Instruction
IV bolus inj Tracheal intubation Adult 0.15 mg/kg over 5-10 sec. Maintenance: 0.03 mg/kg. 2 mg/mL Childn 2-12 yr 0.1 mg/kg over 5-10 sec. Maintenance: 0.02 mg/kg. 5 mg/mL Childn 1-12 yr 0.15 mg/kg over 5-10 sec. Maintenance: 0.02 mg/kg. IV infusion Adult & childn 1-12 yr Initial infusion rate: 3 mcg/kg/min. Maintenance: 1-2 mcg/kg/min.
Drug interaction
Increased effect w/ enflurane, isoflurane, halothane, ketamine, other non-depolarising neuromuscular blockers, aminoglycosides, polymyxins, spectinomycin, tetracyclines, lincomycin, clindamycin, anti-arrhythmics, diuretics, Mg & lithium salts, ganglion-blocking drugs. Increased sensitivity w/ β-blockers, antirheumatic drugs, trimetaphan, chlorpromazine, steroids, phenytoin. Prolonged effect w/ suxamethonium. Decreased effect by phenytoin or carbamazepine. Shortened duration & diminished magnitude w/ anticholinesterases.
