Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB) vaccine
Indication
Active immunisation of all infants ≥6 wk against disease caused by HIB.
Instruction
IM Primary vaccination 3 doses in the 1st 6 mth of life & may be started from 6 wk of age. Booster dose Recommended in the 2nd yr of life. Previously unvaccinated infant 6-12 mth 2 inj at 1 mth-interval, followed by a booster in the 2nd yr of life. Previously unvaccinated childn 1-5 yr 1 dose. Administer SC to subject w/ thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders.
Drug interaction
Adequate response may not be achieved w/ immunosuppressants.
