Atracurium besylate
Indication
Adjunct to general anaesth to enable tracheal intubation, to relax skeletal muscles during surgery or controlled ventilation & to facilitate mechanical ventilation in ICU patients.
Instruction
Adult & childn >1 mth IV inj Intubation dose: 0.3-0.6 mg/kg. Supplementary dose: 0.1-0.2 mg/kg. IV infusion 0.3-0.6 mg/kg/hr.
Drug interaction
Increased effects by inhalation anaesth, aminoglycosides, polymyxin, spectinomycin, tetracycline, lincomycin, clindamycin, antiarrhythmics, diuretics, Mg sulfate, ketamine, lithium salts, ganglion-blocking drugs. Increased sensitivity w/ β-blockers, anti-rheumatic drugs, trimetaphan, chlorpromazine, steroids, phenytoin. Prolonged & complex block w/ suxamethonium Cl. Shortened duration & diminished magnitude w/ anticholinesterases.
