Indication
Management of essential HTN. Angina pectoris. Symptomatic chronic heart failure.
Instruction
Should be taken with food.
Drug interaction
Increased digoxin conc. Enhanced blood sugar-reducing effect of insulin or oral hypoglycemics. Reduced plasma conc by rifampicin. Increased AUC by cimetidine. Signs of hypotension &/or severe bradycardia w/ catecholamine-depleting agents eg, reserpine and MAOIs. Increased mean trough cyclosporine conc. Increased risk of AV conduction disturbances w/ verapamil- & diltiazem-type Ca-channel blockers or other antiarrhythmics. Potentiated BP- & heart rate-lowering effects w/ clonidine. Potentiated effect of other antihypertensives eg, α1-receptor antagonist. Synergistic negative inotropic & hypotensive effects w/ anesth. Intensified BP-lowering effect w/ barbiturates, phenothiazines, TCAs, vasodilating drugs, alcohol.
