Content:
- Active Ingredient: Ipratropium Bromide 500 mcg (equivalent to 522 mcg of ipratropium bromide monohydrate).
- Form: Sterile solution for inhalation in unit dose vials (UDVs).
Indication:
Atrovent is indicated for the maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is also used for the treatment of acute bronchospasm associated with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and asthma, when used concomitantly with inhaled beta-agonists.
Instructions:
- Dosage:
- Maintenance Treatment: Adults (including elderly) and adolescents > 12 years: 1 unit dose vial (500 mcg) 3 to 4 times daily.
- Acute Attacks: Adults (including elderly) and adolescents > 12 years: 1 unit dose vial (500 mcg) until the patient is stable.
- Administration:
- Preparation: Tear one unit dose vial from the strip and open it by firmly twisting the top.
- Nebulization: Squeeze the content of the unit dose vial into the nebuliser reservoir. Dilute with saline up to a final volume of 2-4 mL. Assemble the nebuliser and use as directed.
- Usage: Administer via a suitable nebulising device. Do not take orally or administer parenterally.
- Precautions:
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
- Consult a physician if breathlessness does not improve or worsens.
- Inform your doctor if you have cystic fibrosis, glaucoma, prostate problems, or issues with passing urine.
