Tegretol (Carbamazepine) 200mg Tablets contain the active ingredient carbamazepine. Each tablet contains 200 mg of carbamazepine.
Indications:
Tegretol is used for the treatment of:
-Epilepsy: Partial seizures with complex symptomatology (psychomotor, temporal lobe), generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and mixed forms of these seizures.
-Trigeminal Neuralgia: Painful condition affecting the trigeminal nerve in the face.
-Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia: Painful condition affecting the glossopharyngeal nerve in the throat.
-Acute Mania and Bipolar Disorder: Used as a mood stabilizer in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
-Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome: Helps to prevent or reduce withdrawal symptoms.
Instructions:
Dosage: The dosage varies depending on the condition being treated. For epilepsy, the initial dose is usually 100-200 mg once or twice daily, gradually increasing to the optimal dose. For trigeminal neuralgia, the initial dose is 100 mg once or twice daily, increasing by 100 mg every 12 hours until pain relief is achieved.
Administration: Tegretol tablets should be taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time.
