  • Manual temperature input and monitoring of temperature change over time (ΔT/Δt)
  • Enough memory for thousands of measuring applications and several thousand readings
  • Certified reference standards (in MS/m, % IACS) – traceable to internationally recognized calibration standards

Applications

  • Conductivity testing on raw materials for sorting and quality assurance
  • Inspection of alloys in coinage (e.g. conductivity of Euro coins)
  • Assessment of the hardness and strength of heat-treated materials
  • Checking for heat damage, material fatigue and cracks
  • Estimation of the phosphorous content in copper alloys or copper-bearing materials
  • Tracking of precipitation processes, e.g. in Cu-Cr alloys
  • Verification of the homogeneity of alloys
  • Scrap sorting

The solution for electrical conductivity measurement

The SIGMASCOPE® SMP350 is a compact handheld device for measuring the electrical conductivity of non-ferrous metals. It quickly and accurately measures the electrical conductivity of aluminum or copper. From the measured conductivity, you can then draw further conclusions about the hardness and strength of heat-treated materials. This lets you monitor the material stability of components that are exposed to large temperature fluctuations. Even heat damage and material fatigue can be determined simply this way.

To measure the electrical conductivity, the device employs the phase sensitive eddy current method (according to DIN EN 2004-1 and ASTM E1004). This type of signal evaluation enables non-contact measurement, even under paint or plastic coatings up to 500 μm thick. It also minimizes the influence of surface roughness.
