Salbutamol Sulphate (5mg/ml)
Indication
Butavent Respirator Solution used for the treatments of acute severe asthma (status asthmaticus) and for routine management of chronic bronchospasm (sudden constriction of the muscles in the walls of the airways) unresponsive to conventional therapy
Instruction
Adult: Via nebuliser: 2.5-5 mg, up to 4 times daily, alternatively, may be given continuously at a rate of 1-2 mg/hr.
Child: ≥4 yr Same as adult dose.
Drug interaction
Concurrent use of salbutamol with diuretics, xanthines or high doses of corticosteroids may increase the risk of hypokalaemia (low concentration of potassium in the blood). The antihypertensive effects of diuretics may be reduced when these medications are used with salbutamol
