Hygiena Buffered Peptone Water | Dehydrated Culture Media
Enrichment media for use with the BAX® System
Testing for pathogens, especially at low levels, depends on growing the target microorganisms so they can be easily detected. It is therefore essential that the right enrichment media—with the right pH, nutrients and competitor organism inhibitors—are used to grow your target organisms. Selective media are also helpful for growing specific organisms that might not respond to general enrichment broths. Hygiena offers dehydrated culture media for the enrichment of pathogenic bacteria, and selective enrichment media to support specific growth of Listeria, E. coli O157:H7, STEC, and Salmonella. The bulk-powder media below are available to customers that want to take full advantage of the speed, flexibility, and convenience that select BAX® System assays have to offer.
Buffered Peptone Water (BPW) is a non-selective pre-enrichment medium commonly used to help improve the recovery of injured Salmonella cells for the rapid detection of this pathogen in the food safety industry.
Research has demonstrated that BPW also can be an effective pre-enrichment medium for the recovery of Cronobacter species (E. sakazakii) from food and environmental samples.
