Also used for mordanting (improving fastness of dyes) on fabrics; preserving and coagulating rubber latex; in embalming fluids. In photography for hardening gelatin plates and papers, toning gelatin-chloride papers, chrome printing and developing. To prevent mildew and spelt in wheat and rot in oats; to render casein, albumin and gelatin insoluble; also as laboratory chemical.
