Acyclovir

Indication

YSP Vireless is indicated for the treatment of HSV and VZV infections, including:

• Genital herpex simplex
• Herpes simplex labialis
• Herpes zoster (shingles)
• Acute chickenpox in immunocompromised patients
• Herpes simplex encephalitis
• Acute mucocutaneous HSV infections in immunocompromised patients
• Herpes simplex keratitis (ocular herpes)
• Herpes simplex blepharitis
• Bell's Palsy

YSP Vireless is an antiviral. It works by stopping viral replication. However, YSP Vireless does not eliminate the virus, is not a cure, and does not prevent transmission to others.

Instruction

Use YSP Vireless as directed by your doctor!

• Take YSP Vireless by mouth with or without food.
• Start therapy with YSP Vireless at the earliest sign or symptom of shingles or genital herpes (pain, burning, blisters).
• If treating an acute outbreak, continue using YSP Vireless for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days.
• For suppressive therapy, YSP Vireless works best if it is taken at the same times each day.
• If you miss a dose of YSP Vireless, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Drug interaction

There are negative interactions that can occur when YSP Vireless is combined with any of the drugs listed above. Phenytoin (Fosphenytoin) and YSP Vireless: it may decrease the level of phenytoin in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to measure the level of phenytoin in your blood (using a blood test) and adjust your dose as necessary. Probenecid can increase the level of YSP Vireless in your blood, increasing your risk of acyclovir side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your acyclovir dosage to prevent this interaction from occurring. Acyclovir can increase the level of Tenofovir in your blood, potentially increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your tenofovir dosage to prevent drug interactions from occurring.
