The HI93703-59 activated charcoal reagent is for the colorimetric determination of reducing sugar concentration in wine using the HI83746 photometer. This high quality reagent is manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and is clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date on each bottle for traceability.
Prior to analysis, red wine must be decolorized with activated charcoal. Phenols present in the wine are an interference in the Fehling reaction of reducing sugars. Through the use of several scoops of HI93703-59 activated charcoal and filter paper, the phenols can be removed to ensure an accurate analysis of reducing sugar concentration.
