Duplex materials consist of a combination of austenite and ferrite material. These materials have different oxide scales, making the pickling process more challenging. We’ve developed a robust Duplex Pickling Spray specifically designed for pickling Duplex grades and other high-alloyed stainless steel.
Standard applications
Our pickling spray revitalizes stainless steel surfaces that have undergone damage during fabrication operations such as welding, forming, cutting, grinding, and blasting. It effectively eliminates weld oxides, the underlying chromium-depleted layer, and other defects that can lead to local corrosion. AVESTA Duplex Pickling Spray 250 is tailor-made for spray pickling larger surfaces of duplex and other high-alloyed stainless steel.
Features
Achieves excellent pickling results on Duplex grades.
Adheres to typical pickling parameters.
Demonstrates low consumption of pickling product per square meter.
Can be used for pickling standard stainless grades like 304 (1.4301) and 316 (1.4401) at lower temperatures, making it suitable for situations where standard pickling spray is challenging to use.
Packaging
Avesta Duplex Pickling Spray 250 is available in 20kg, 30kg, and 220kg polyethylene containers, as well as 1200kg IBC polyethylene containers. Package sizes may vary by market, and all packaging materials comply with UN regulations for hazardous goods.
Storage
For proper storage, keep Avesta Duplex Pickling Spray 250 indoors at room temperature. Ensure containers are securely closed, in an upright position, and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals. This product is perishable and should not be stored for longer than necessary. If the spray undergoes decomposition during storage, it should be stirred before use. It has a maximum shelf life of two years when stored at room temperature. Avoid exposure to higher temperatures (>35°C) to prevent damage and a reduction in shelf life.
Passivation
To further enhance the results, we recommend performing passivation after pickling using Avesta FinishOne Passivator 630, which provides a safer, acid-free passivation method.
Waste treatment
The wastewater generated during pickling contains acids and should be treated with Avesta Neutraliser 502 or with slaked lime to achieve a pH value of 7-10 before discharge. Heavy metals from stainless steel will precipitate as a sludge, which should be disposed of following local regulations. Empty containers (HDPE) must be cleaned and can then be recycled according to local regulations.
