- Active Ingredient: Entacapone 200 mg
- Excipients: Contains 0.29 mg of Lecithin (Soya)
Indication:
Entacapone is used as an adjunct to standard preparations of levodopa/benserazide or levodopa/carbidopa for treating Parkinson's disease in adults who experience end-of-dose motor fluctuations and cannot be stabilized on these combinations.
Instructions:
- Dosage: One 200 mg tablet is taken with each dose of levodopa/dopa decarboxylase inhibitor. The maximum recommended dose is 2000 mg (10 tablets) per day2.
- Administration: Take the tablet orally, usually with food to reduce stomach upset.
- Precautions:
- Do not take Entacapone if you are allergic to entacapone or any of its ingredients, have liver disease, a tumour of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), or certain antidepressants.
- Consult your doctor if you have had a heart attack, are receiving dialysis, or are over 65 years old.
- Adjust the dose of levodopa when starting Entacapone to reduce side effects like dyskinesias, nausea, vomiting, and hallucinations.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take Entacapone.
