IMTEC-Phosphatidylserine-Antibodies Screen is an indirect solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) for the quantitative measurement of IgG, IgM and IgA class autoantibodies against phosphatidylserine/beta-2- glycoprotein I in human serum. The assay is intended for in vitro diagnostic use only as an aid in the diagnosis of the antiphospholipid syndrome.
Anti-phosphatidylserine antibodies (aPs) are important for the diagnosis of the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Although aPs is not part of the diagnostic criteria for the disease defined in an international consensus conference (Sapporo, 1998), some investigators consider them more specific for APS than anti-cardiolipin antibodies (aCL).
