Located just out of the Bordeaux township is Chateau Monsan Estebe, an estate that was originally used as both an orchard and dairy farm before being converted into vineyards planted mostly to Merlot. The grapes for this 2016 (90% Merlot/10% Cab Franc) were harvested when they were perfectly ripe, before being taken into the winery where they underwent a temperature-controlled fermentation followed by extended skin maceration of just over three weeks. The result? A deep ruby red wine with a powerfully aromatic nose of red fruit, dark bitter chocolate and earthy tobacco undertones. Its drinking great now and into the next 3-5 years.
