Overview
Maca was started to be grown by Andean natives 2000 years ago. It had been treated as a valuable food since the Incan civilization and consumed as “a food for the privileged”. Besides that, it was used as an energy source for soldiers heading to war and supplementation of energy for tired soldiers and also been used as a folk remedy for human and farm animals since ancient times because the tuberous root of maca is highly nutritious.
