Janumet XR contains two active ingredients:
- Sitagliptin phosphate (50mg)
- Metformin hydrochloride extended-release (1000mg)
Indication:
Janumet XR is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps to lower blood sugar levels throughout the day, including after meals.
Instructions:
- Dosage: Take one tablet once daily with your evening meal. The dose may be adjusted based on effectiveness and tolerability.
- Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
- Precautions: Do not use if you have severe kidney disease, liver problems, or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis or heart problems.
- Side Effects: Common side effects include low blood sugar (if used with other diabetes medications), upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, and headache. Serious side effects may include lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, and severe skin reactions.
