Case Study: Worn out motor rotor’s coupling journal and badly damaged keyway
Step 1 : Worn Out Motor Rotor’s Coupling Journal and Badly Damaged Keyway
Step 2 :Conduct Thermal Spray Repair Procedure
Step 3 :Journal with Thermal Spray Coating Before Machining
Step 4 : Precision Machine Finished to Sizes and Tolerances
The thermal spray process involves in depositing metals in the form of molten spray which solidifies on the surface to form a dense and strongly adherent deposit. The method consists of melting the material to be sprayed and simultaneously projecting the molten particles in a high velocity air jet to the surface.
Although the deposits are applied in a molten state, the base material undergoes only a relatively small rise in temperature. The deposit produced by electric arc spraying possesses a high degree of bond strength and the inter-particle cohesion of the deposit is extremely high. This gives deposits which are highly resistant to chipping, spalling and cracking even when machined by conventional method.
Typical applications where thermal spray gives improved performances characteristics over all areas such as:-
Reclamation / salvage of worn components
Anti-corrosion / erosion / wear protection
Electro-magnetic interference screening
Protection against high temperature
Federal Parts Engineering offers a wide variety of rebuilding materials for thermal spray process subject to the parent material of the components and customers’ requirements :-
