Description
Hygiena | BAX® System Real-Time PCR Assay for Staphylococcus aureus
Staph aureus is a common cause of skin infections, and is known to cause foodborne illness and methycillin-resistant Staph aureus is a significant problem in clinical settings. The BAX System Real-Time PCR assay for Staph aureus harnesses the power of the polymerase chain reaction to detect Staph aureus in food and environmental samples. The BAX system provides everything necessary for PCR--polymerase, nucleotides and target-specific primers. The system minimizes operator handling and is easy to use. It can be used for presence/absence or threshold testing.
Benefits
-
Next-day results
-
Automated DNA-based analysis instead of subjective plate counts
-
Equivalent to or better than reference methods
-
Presence/absence or threshold testing available
-
Aerobic growth conditions simplify sample prep and tableted reagents reduce operator error
-
Closed-cap system avoids amplicon contamination in the lab
-
LIMS-compatible electronic data allow for easy storage, sharing and retrieval
-
Less than 90 minutes real-time processing
-
Can detect 1 cfu per gram in powdered infant formula
-
Also detects thresholds as low as 10 cfu per gram, in line with meat industry standards
-
Excellent inclusivity/exclusivity
-
Can also be used to confirm presumptive positive colonies
