Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.
 
What Happens During a Sports Massage?

General sports massage where the massage involves warming up, treatment and then cooling down as this is the proper way of doing sports injury massage. Sports injury massage is a deep tissue massage where adhesions, lactic acid (knots in the muscle) are detected by skilled therapists and treatments are executed to solve the problems in the muscles. It could be performed for the whole body or just in specific injury areas (Sore neck and shoulder). Sports massage is good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.
 
Sport Massage Advance Course:

Syllabuses include:
  Learning basic human anatomy
  Learning the function of muscles
  Learning on how lactic acid or knots or formed in muscles
  Learning what kind of activities or exercise may cause more lactic acid formation
  Learning to explain to receiver of massage, the purpose, intention and aim of deep tissue massage
  Detecting problem areas in muscles
  Treating injury with massage correctly to enhance healing or prevent further injuries

Types of sports massages:

  Pre-event sports massage is a short, stimulating massage (10 – 20 minutes) before an event. It is directed towards the part of the body that will be involved in the exertion.
  Post-event sports massage is given for 1 – 2 hours to normalize the body’s tissues. Most sports people need frequent weekly deep tissue massage to prevent injury and maintain body.
