IMTEC-d-GLIADIN-ANTIBODIES IgG is an enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) for the quantitative measurement of IgG class autoantibodies against deamidated gliadin (d-Gliadin) in human serum. The assay is intended for in vitro diagnostic use only as an aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease.
Celiac disease is common with an increasing prevalence of about 1:100 in Western populations, in South America, North Africa, and South Asia today. Early diagnosis of celiac disease followed by a gluten-free diet reduces significantly the risk of malignancy and mortality. The use of dGliadin instead of natural wheat gliadin improves the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity significantly.
