Nettle caterpillars and begworms are major pests. They consume and destroy the foliage of palms. Depending on the severity of the pest outbreaks and if left unchecked, could lead to yield reductions over a period of two years before the crop fully recovers.
2 Systemic insecticides, krotofos 60 (monocrotophos 55% w/w) and Multiphos 60 (methamidophos 50% w/w), are suitable and effective in controlling these pests bu using Trunk Injection Method.
Recommended for mature oil palm.
