Indication
MDV: Major nerve blocks eg, sciatic & retrobulbar. Polyamp: Local anaesth by epidural block.
Instruction
MDV Adult & childn >12 yr Retrobulbar block 80 mg (4 mL) in 3-5 min for 1.5-2 hr. Sciatic block 300-400 mg (15-20 mL) in 15-30 min for 2-3 hr. Max: 400 mg (20 mL). Polyamp Adult 70 kg Epidural anaesth (lumbar) Individualised dosage. 100-200 mg (5-10 mL). Max: 3 mg/kg.
Drug interaction
Patients receiving agents structurally related to local anaesth, cimetidine, class IB & III antiarrhythmics (eg, amiodarone), other local & inhalational anaesth. β-adrenoreceptor antagonist, anticonvulsants, skeletal muscle relaxants.
