Cefuroxime axetil
Indication
Ear, nose & throat infections ie, otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis & pharyngitis; pneumonia, acute bronchitis & acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis; pyelonephritis, cystitis & urethritis. Furunculosis, pyoderma & impetigo; gonorrhoea, acute uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis & cervicitis.
Instruction
Should be taken with food.
Drug interaction
Lowered oestrogen reabsorption & reduced efficacy of combined OCs. False -ve result in ferricyanide test. Increased area under the mean serum conc time curve by 50% w/ probenecid. +ve Coomb's test.
