External Hemorrhoids
Located in the skin around the anus, external hemorrhoids exhibit the following signs and symptoms:
- Itching or stinging sensation in the anal area
- Pain or discomfort
- Swelling around the anus
- Bleeding
Internal Hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids are situated inside the rectum.
They are typically not visible or palpable and rarely cause discomfort. Straining or irritation during bowel movements can result in:
- Painless bleeding during bowel movements
- Hemorrhoids being pushed outside the anal opening (prolapsed hemorrhoids), causing pain and irritation
