The top layer of engineered wood flooring is made of solid wood, which gives it the same natural beauty and durability as traditional hardwood floors. However, the underlying layers are made of less expensive wood species, such as plywood or high-density fiberboard (HDF), which provides stability and resistance to moisture.
One of the benefits of engineered wood flooring is its dimensional stability. The cross-grain construction of the wood veneers resists expansion and contraction due to changes in temperature and humidity, making it suitable for use in areas where solid wood floors might be prone to warping or cupping.
