Sublimation Ink:
Nature: They are pigment suspended in a liquid solvent, like water.
Used for: Sublimation Blanks printing, Textile Printing
Advantages: Water Resistance, Involves transfer of inks only
Disadvantages: Only apply to limited colored garments
What can sublimation printing be used for?
Once this has been done, heat is then used to transfer the image from the sublimation paper to an object. Many businesses use this method of printing to personalise their products, including adding graphics to clothing, decorations, home décor, kitchen utensils, keyrings, coffee mugs, hoodies, socks, clocks and more.
ADVANTAGES OF SUBLIMATION
What materials are not compatible with Sublimation?
Items that cannot be transferred onto are either supplied without the polymer sublimation coating applied or are fabrics that are made from natural fibres these include-
Cotton – cotton is a natural fibre. It contains no polyester and so has nothing for the sublimation ink to bond to.
Dark fabrics – sublimation transfer printing is best suited to white or pale pastel colours. Printing not to dark or black fabrics will yield poor visibility of the design. The rule of thumb here is- if the ink is darker than the fabric it will be visible. i.e. black ink transferred onto a yellow fabric.
Can I sublimate on any fabric?
