The Hass avocado is the most common variety grown in Australia accounting for around 80 per cent of avocados available. Because it is a less sensitive fruit that can tolerate a different climate, it can be grown in most Australian States.
Australian Hass Avocados have a rough, pebbly skin and change colour during the ripening process, from emerald-green through to purplish-black when ripe. Rich and creamy in taste, Hass is the most common variety of avocado. Avocados are an excellent source of magnesium, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K.
