The CASTELLI FREE PROTECT was made following Chris Froome's request to make a short that could protect him during the first dangerous stages of the Tour de France. He wanted something to reduce asphalt abrasions in case of a fall in those fractions where everyone wants to be in front and falls are frequent.
The shorts are made of Lycra® that glides over Lycra®-the best way to prevent or reduce asphalt abrasions on the hips.
The Vortex fabric, located on the outside of the shorts, is extremely durable while the stretchy inner fabric made from Dyneema® further reinforces the shorts.
