GAR stands for the Great Australian Red, that amazing blend of Shiraz and Cabernet. Why hasn’t the rest of the world cottoned on to this? From two superb vineyards in their respective regions, bringing together the Hesketh and Hardy families, the wine spends time in quality French oak. Serious depth to be found here with dark berries and warm earth, notes of blackberries, bergamot, roasted meats, bay leaves and cassis. Dry herbs over spices, the palate moves more to licorice and cocoa powder. Fresh acidity, soft tannins, impeccable balance and very good length make this a ten year plus proposition.
