Kotohime was bred by Kayito Omura of Top Berry in Nara Prefecture, and registered as a new variety in 2021. It was selectively bred using the large grained "Tamahime" and "Kotoka" as its parents, which ranks high among the many strawberry varieties as a rich flavor strawberry.
Kotohime firmly inherits the rich sweetness of Kotouka but doesn't have the distinct acidity of Kotoka, so the sweetness is even more pronounced. It also inherits Tamahime's large grains that weigh and average of 30g and firm natured, which makes it more lasting.
